Walnut Valley Mandolin Championships
Winfield , Kansas … On Friday, September 19 th , the Walnut Valley Mandolin Championship was held on Stage 4 of the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield , Kansas . Nineteen contestants from 11 states were entered in the competition. Some from as far away as California , Florida , Arizona and Pennsylvania . When the smoke cleared, contestants from Colorado , Pennsylvania and Alabama had prevailed.
The quality manager for a fluorescent lamp company of Warren , Pennsylvania , named Scott Pearson took home the 2 nd Place Trophy and Collings MT2 SB Mandolin from Collings Guitars of Austin, Texas. Scott has entered the Walnut Valley Mandolin contest before and in 1993 he took 3 rd Place .
